This 2 & ½ day course provides a strong grounding in play theories and how to support children’s play in the natural environment. It comes with hundreds of playful ideas, games and crafts you can take back to your setting. Outdoor Play Practitioner will develop your skills and confidence in facilitating outdoor play across a range of settings. Focussed on a holistic view of children’s play and supporting this free-play rather than ‘teaching’, this qualification will give you the underpinning knowledge and practical skills to become an advocate for play in all its forms. The course is suitable for play-workers, teachers, early years educators, lunchtime supervisors and anyone who has the best interests of children at heart. Completion of this course only takes two and a half days plus some structured self-directed study in between the course days. It is designed to be as practical, accessible and supportive as possible in helping you to understand and facilitate children’s play.

 

Course summary: 

  • Understand the benefits and risks of using the outdoors and the natural environment for play. 
  • Learn how to make an holistic approach to implementing outdoor play – getting everyone ‘on board’ with your plans
  • Learn how to facilitate outdoor play in the natural environment and link this to holistic development
  • Learn how to sustainably manage and improve outdoor learning environments, looking at ecological structures in the natural environment, identifying species in our own local natural environments.

 

Course entry requirements:

  • Aged 16 years or over.
  • Level 1 qualification or equivalent (1 GCSE).
  • A current DBS check is expected and is the responsibility of your setting
  • A suitable First Aid qualification is useful to recommended this course.
